I put animals in a basket and made a trap for the animals using yarn. Each child took a turn cutting the yarn to help free the animals. They asked to play with the animals once they were freed and I gave them play dough to use as well. So many conversations and learning experiences arise when there is open ended play! I heard them counting, sorting, hiding animals and so much more.
We built letter Aa puzzles. The older kids cut their strips the younger ones are still working on scissor skills by tearing or snipping bits of paper. For their names they outlined the first letter of their name with stickers. I always ask the kids to write their name on their papers; I love seeing the progress they make through the year, and they feel very proud and accomplished!
As a group we dotted letters on a large piece of butcher paper using dot markers.
For fine motor we traced the letter A in our journals and practiced tracing lines.
Happy Friday!! Enjoy this summer like weather!
