Have a fantastic Spring break! See you in a week.
Pull up your boots, put on your cowboy hat and lets head to the Rodeo! This week we made boots, hats, practiced our roping skills and learned about the different types of animals you'd see at a rodeo. Your child should be able to tell you why cowboys/cowgirls may wear boots, parts of a boot, uses of a cowboy's rope and what can be caught with it. After Spring break we will wander out into the dunes of the Sahara Desert!

We learned about being a team player and what to do and say after finishing a race. We discussed the parts of the body needed for jumping, when it is safe to kick something and when it is not, different sports that use balls and why stretching is important for muscles. We finished up the unit talking about our general health. Parts of the mouth, a doctor's role, exercises to make us stronger, and why sleep is important. We also made it to the park for play and a picnic! Spring is almost here!!
We've discussed the different food groups. They learned where fruits and vegetables come from and how they grow. We planted seeds in a clear bag to watch the progression. They have enjoyed going to the sunny window each day to look at their seeds. They were so excited to see the vine coming out of the bags! They practiced cutting food (of course with a fake knife). We even pretended to milk a cow. The kids enjoyed making blueberry muffins and making fresh squeezed lemonade. And of course, we had a pretend lemonade stand! They didn't even realize they were actually learning! We learned about pouring and measuring different types of ingredients. We practiced measuring with sensory bins and with real food!
