This week we learned about a desert tortoise and the differences between tortoises and turtles. The differences between a burro and a horse. We practiced fine motor skills while pretending to pan for gold and we made homemade quicksand! Next week we will finish up our Discover the Desert Unit.
This week we talked about the weather in the Sahara Desert, body parts of a camel, small desert animals, The Great Pyramid and plants of the Sahara. We made a canteen to store water, made a puppet camel, iguana, made a pyramid using paint and sand for texture and a cactus plant. We also did a science experiment showing hot and cold temperatures. Your child should be able to tell what is in a camel's hump, identify body parts of a camel and why they long eyelashes! We finished letter's H and almost done with letter I.
