We kept bust this week making Halloween crafts! The kiddos loved it and we had so much fun everyday. We also made a few cute books for the kids to take home and read. It is so exciting to see the kids start to recognize words. I LOVE it! Have a safe and happy Halloween!

We have started a new unit; "In the Orchard". Your child will learn about the life cycle of a deciduous tree, fruit that grows on trees (harvest), skins, shells and the animals that call an orchard home. We've already learned about seeds, roots, trunks, branches and leaves. The kids learned why leaves turn colors in the fall. We discussed that in the fall trees stop producing chlorophyll that makes them green in the spring and summer. This is why leaves begin to turn different colors. We cut out leaves using red, brown, yellow, orange and green paper. The kids were instructed to put all their cut up leaves on the paper except for the green leaves! The trees shed their leaves so they can save energy and water to help them survive the winter. And of course we talked about how fun it is to jump in the leaves!
This month they will also learn about numbers 3 & 4, the color green and letters A, O and R. Here is what we've done in the last couple of weeks: We have completed our camping unit and a little more! We have learned all about campsites, camping equipment, animals you may encounter, trails, rivers, pesky mosquitoes, fishing and more. Take a peek at what we've been doing this month!
