They used a feather to write in salt! They drew pictures and letters. We worked on the letter Aa.
This nursery rhyme tells about sixpence, which was coin worth six pennies. (In today's world, it is equivalent to about 50 cents.) This is good rhyme to help children discuss money and exchanging goods. Pies are known to many people as comfort food. The concept of "pies" has been around for a long time. The Ancient Egyptians around 2,500BC are known to have eaten pies made with ground oats or wheat wrapped around a filling of honey or figs. During this Invitation to Create, children explored creating their own pie with a real pie tin and paper. Through this process, children engaged in imaginary play while making their pie artwork. This project helps children understand that art doesn't have to be hanging on a wall. They used a feather to write in salt! They drew pictures and letters. We worked on the letter Aa.
