Bees collect pollen from flowers to feed their babies. Today we filled the honeycomb with pollen. We took turns rolling a dice and then we counted that many bits of pollen and added to our honeycomb until it was full.
We played a math game; How Many in the Hive? They each colored their beehive, moved the strip by pulling and counted out that many bees to put on the hive.
We used cornmeal as pollen for writing tray and used a craft stick to write letters, shapes and lines. They were pretending to be busy bees!
We also practiced letters they are struggling to write. They all nailed them with just a few tries! Some kids strive for perfection and get frustrated when they feel they make a mistake, we are working on knowing it is OKAY to make mistakes! I tell them everyday, that is how we learn.
