We used our theme poster to position pigs. They took turns rolling the cube with the positional cards, then they placed the pig on the poster in the same position. We painted a muddy pig! Pigs need mud to regulate their temperature and protect their skin from sunburn. Pigs do not have sweat glands, so they give themselves mud baths to cool down. Most people think pigs are dirty animals, but, they are some of the cleanest animals on the farm!
Pigs living on a fam like to stay cool and clean. A sow (mother pig) gives birth to baby pigs called piglets. Pigs have poor vision but a keen sense of smell. They use their snouts to move things and find food. They are considered extremely intelligent animals. Pigs use their strong snouts to dig and find food; this is called rooting.
