Mangoes grow on tall trees in tropical climates. They are very common fruit used around the world. Mangoes are known for the colors of their skins, such as red, orange, yellow and green. Mango trees can be over 100 feet tall and can live hundred of years. Mangoes are a healthy fruit and have many vitamins.
During this Invitation to Create, children explored the artistic technique of blending colors. Children experiment with using sponges to blend the colors on paper ovals to create their own mangoes. During this process, children shared their discoveries about the changes they saw when two colors mixed together. The older kids were encouraged to write mango. They are doing so well writing their letters!
I drew various colors of circles in their journals and they were encouraged to use the same color and draw a line to the matching circle across the page.
