An astronaut is a person trained by a spaceflight program to lead, pilot or be a crew member of an expedition to space on a spacecraft. "Astronaut" comes from the Greek worlds for "star" and "sailor". Most of them know how to fly a spaceship. They wear safety spacesuits to breathe. Astronauts exercise at least once a day while in space to keep their bodies strong. We made astronaut puppets using a bag, paper plate, cellophane and markers!
Space food is pre-cooked or dehydrated foods, such as fruit, powdered drinks or even ice cream. It can be wet or dry. The food is kept in special plastic bags. We made our own space food bags using zipper bags, labels and snack food. The children decided what food they would want to eat if they were in space.
Gravity is the force that pulls objects down. In space there is little to no gravity.
The younger kids are continuing to work on their names, painted and played with play dough this week.
The weather has been nice most days so that means we eat and play outside as much as possible! Have a fantastic weekend!
