I showed the kiddos the similarities between a butterfly and the letter B. I modeled in my journal how to draw a butterfly and they did the same. For the lowercase b we drew bugs in the grass. We started drawing long blades of grass and added little bugs (the small curve) of the b.
To create their name, I wrote their name and they glued small circles along the lines. They played with play dough and I incorporated pony beads today. Pony beads can be used creatively with play dough to enhance fine motor skills and imaginative play for children. One of the kiddos told me they were making a family with the beads.
