Only one more week of school remaining for the 2020 school year. This week we learned about chickens!
Today we were busy practicing scissor skills, cleaning muddy pigs, reading books and playing outside!
We practiced cutting paper today. I put a smiley face on their thumb nails to remind them the smiley face needs to be looking at them when they cut. This helps them keep their thumb facing up when using scissors.
We talked about some things you'd see on a farm; barn, silo and tractor. A barn is a building that which crops or animals can be kept and a silo is a tower on a farm used to store grain.
We read the book Click, Clack, Moo Cows That Type. A silly book about Farmer Brown's cows, who find an old typewriter in the barn and proceed to write letters to Farmer Brown, making various demands and then going on strike when they aren't met. We used letters to create a few words like our names, cow and moo. Then we pretended to type.
The kids loved cleaning the muddy pigs! We cleaned the pigs and then they would tell me the letter that was on the pig they cleaned.
We spent time outside in the greenbelt. Of course, we went on a bear hunt again!
We made an A for airplane. We talked about different types of transportation; land, air & water.
For lunch I made rainbow pancakes and they were a hit!
We've been reading and singing Going on A Bear Hunt! The kids love this story. We hid a bear in the room and used our binoculars to find the bear. We also made a map and puppet pieces to go with the story. We also did some work in our fine motor journals.
