Traffic signs give important information to drivers and pedestrians using simple words, colors, symbols, and numbers to help keep us safe. We discussed the colors on a traffic light and what each one means. They painted a paper plate black, cut in half, glued to black paper, and added red, yellow, and green circles to create their own traffic lights.
We also explored the different shapes of traffic signs and made triangles using popsicle sticks. They chose a shape sheet and were encouraged to trace the shape, and add words or drawings.
I provided paper, markers, and scissors for them to design their own road signs.
With their stoplights, they enjoyed playing with cars and building roads. In their journals, they drew lines of their choice and used stickers.
