Today we explored the feeling of surprise! We talked about how being surprised is an emotion that can be expressed in different ways. The children had fun role-playing a surprise party, complete with party hats they made using paint sticks, paper plates, and stickers.
For fine motor practice, the children traced circles, cut paper, and played with play dough. During our play dough activity, each child rolled a number cube and added that many eyes to their silly “monster.” Once we finished counting, we added candles to the play dough and pretended to have a birthday party. The children loved combining counting, creativity, and imaginative play! They also sang happy birthday to each person!
