Children who are ready to cut along specific lines cut out their own projects independently! For those still developing their scissor skills, we practiced cutting strips of paper to build confidence and coordination. With a mix of ages and abilities in our group this year, I’m adapting activities to meet each child where they are, everyone gets a chance to participate and practice using scissors or simply tearing paper!
We also worked on fine motor development through tracing lines and "journaling." After tracing, the children got to choose what they wanted to draw in their journals, giving them a little creative freedom. It all starts with a scribble! They also drew a self portrait.
