We learned about the role of a dentist. A dentist helps take care of our teeth and gums and makes sure they stay healthy. We talked about how dentists sometimes take X-rays to look at our teeth and how they check our “bite” to make sure everything is working the way it should. We also discussed why brushing, flossing, and healthy habits are important for keeping our teeth strong.
For our activity, each child received a tooth template and used a toothbrush to “clean” the tooth with a mixture of shaving cream and glue. They enjoyed brushing away the pretend plaque and making the tooth look sparkly and bright. We talked about brushing gently and taking our time, just like at home! We also sorted toothbrushes by size, shortest to tallest, tallest to shortest.
It was a fun, hands-on way to understand how dentists help keep our smiles healthy.
