Cows are mostly raised for their meat, milk, and coats. They are herbivores that eat grass, corn, and other plants. Did you know cows have four stomachs to help them digest all that food? They’re also very social animals and love to gather together in herds.
We read Click, Clack, Moo: Cows That Type by Doreen Cronin. The kiddos placed letters on their papers and pretended to type just like the cows in the story! This simple activity sparked so many fun conversations; “I have this letter in my name!” and “You have this letter in your name!” It’s amazing how much learning can happen through play.
They created their own pet cows using a cow template, using black paint, a pom-pom to make spots and clothespin legs. They used stickers to form the letter Nn, then enjoyed open-ended play with farm animals and blocks.
