We talked about how boats move on water using motors, paddles, or sails, and then we created our very own sailboats using paper plates, paint sticks, and popsicle sticks.
We played a fun game called "Race to the Shore!" I placed blue and red cards face down on the table. Each child picked a card and moved their boat that matched the card’s color one space closer to the finish line. The excitement built as the boats raced to see which one would reach the shore first!
To tie in a little creativity, the children were encouraged to draw a picture of themselves on a boat.
We also added a splash of math to our boat theme. The children took turns rolling a die, identifying the number, and placing that many ducks in the boat.
It was another great day filled with learning, creativity, and play!
