September's shape was a circle and the color was red! The kiddos had fun stamping red circles using a toilet paper roll and a cork. Using the cork was especially helpful for fine motor skills since it was short and easy to grasp. They practiced letter recognition by sorting letters with dot stickers and colored an “I Spy” coloring sheet, looking for letter Tt. We wrapped up our day exploring and playing in the apple sensory bin!

This week we focused on the letter Tt! The children created a collage and used stickers to form the letter Tt in their journals. We also made an apple craft and labeled the different parts of an apple. Our Pre-K friends practiced their sight words in their journals. To finish the day they squished rolled play dough building up strength in those little hands!
Today the children painted apples using forks! This gave them the chance to explore a new painting tool while choosing their favorite apple color; red or green. For fine motor practice, they traced lines and added stickers to their journals. To finish the day, they enjoyed exploring the “apple” sensory bin, using tweezers and scoops to sort and play.
Poof! Just like that, September is over. Does time fly or what?
Today we focused on the letter Tt — T is for tree and T is for tiger! The kiddos were so proud of the Tt’s they wrote and the art the tree and tiger they created using the letters. In their journals, we practiced together. I modeled in my own journal, using an acorn as inspiration to show how to make a large circle and straight lines for the capital T, by drawing across the page and then down the page. For the lowercase t, I told them, “Let’s build a fence!” That visual helped them remember how to make the letter. It’s amazing to see their writing skills take off right alongside their excitement for learning! 🌳🐯✏️ For math practice they sorted shapes. Pp is for pig and peacock. For fine motor practice, I drew a circle and placed colored dot stickers around it. The children were encouraged to draw lines connecting the matching colors. They sorted letters Mm and Pp. The younger kiddos sorted dot stickers on red, green and yellow trees!
Happy Fall! Today they used their fingers and paint to create a fall tree. Of course, for our name we incorporated fall colored leafs!
Today we did a directed drawing of a red apple! 🍎 The children followed step-by-step instructions to create their own apple artwork. They practiced listening carefully, following directions, and using fine motor skills to draw and color. Each apple turned out unique and full of personality, just like the children!
Today we made mini apple pies! The children measured, poured, chopped, and stirred, filling the house with the sweet smell of cinnamon apples all day long.
For math, they sorted counters onto red, yellow, and green apple trees. They also sorted shapes. For fine motor and literacy, they used stickers to make the letter Pp and traced lines. It was a wonderful day full of learning, hands-on fun, and the cozy flavors of fall! 🍂 Fall means apples, and today we celebrated by painting our very own! We mixed ground cinnamon into red, yellow, green, and brown paint, turning a simple art activity into a full sensory experience. The kiddos loved the festive apple theme, seeing the colors, smelling the cinnamon, and feeling the textures.
This activity not only sparked creativity but also supported fine motor development and sensory exploration. What a fun and fragrant way to welcome the season! Yes, I know we are a few days early but it was a cool morning! 🍎🍏🍂 |
